Inflation in the OECD countries accelerated to 2.9% in July

Consumer prices in the countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development rose by 2.9% in July in annual terms, after rising by 2.8% in June. The price of energy carriers increased by 11.1% against its growth of 10.4% in the previous month. At the same time, food prices increased by 1.8% in the same way as in June. Excluding food and energy prices, inflation accelerated to 2.1% from 2%. Acceleration of inflation was observed in Canada, France, Italy and Japan. In Germany, there was a slowdown in inflation from 2.1% to 2%. The growth rate of consumer prices accelerated in 19 eurozone countries from 2% to 2.1%, in the G20 - from 3.1% to 3.4%. Significant acceleration of inflation was noted in such emerging economies as Argentina - from 29.5% to 31.25, India - from 3.9% to 5.6%, and South Africa - from 4.4% to 5%.
