The external deficit of the US in July amounted to 50 billion 100 million dollars, having increased from 45 billion 700 million dollars in June, the country's Ministry of Trade reported. Analysts had predicted a deficit of $50 billion 200 million dollars. The indicator excluding price fluctuations rose to 82.5 billion dollars from 79 billion 300 million dollars a month earlier. The volume of imports of goods and services increased for the month by 0.9% to a record $261.2 billion, mainly due to active purchases of oil and high prices for gasoline. The number of purchases of foreign cars, computers and medicines also increased. Export grew by 1% to 211 billion 100 million dollars. The export of gasoline reached a record $15 billion 800 million in July. In July, the trade deficit with China reached a record value of 36 billion 800 million dollarsб and with Europe - 17 billion 600 million dollars.
